Hertfordshire County Youth Theatre auditions for Gulliver’s Travels...

(3rd June 2010)

Hertfordshire County Youth Theatre is currently looking for talented young performers for their latest production of Gulliver’s Travels which will take place on 29and 30 October at Watford Palace Theatre.

Auditions will be taking place from 8- 25 June at the Palace Theatre and at Hertswood School in Borehamwood (see below for further details). Any students in Hertfordshire between the ages of 13 and 18 who are interested getting the chance to perform here the Palace are invited to attend one of the auditions.

Gulliver’s Travels will be directed by James Williams, the Resident Director for the Participation team at Watford Palace Theatre. Adapted from the Jonathan Swift classic novel by Farhana Sheikh the production features all of the wit, humour, shock and bite of the original. Brought to life by a troupe of actors who must tell Swift’s story under threat of death, Gulliver’s Travels is a feast of storytelling, music, puppetry and spectacle, and we’re looking for Hertfordshire’s most talented young performers to take part.

Shipwrecked and cast-adrift, Gulliver finds awakes on the shores of Lilliput to a hostile reception from its feisty six-inch tall residents. At war with their neighbours, the tiny Lilliputians soon spy a use for their gigantic visitor - a weapon of massive destruction! Refusing to be part of their plans for conquest, Gulliver flees across the oceans, only to end up abandoned among giants. Now small and vulnerable, he faces danger at every turn.
