£1billion of business up for grabs...(14th July 2010)
Vying for business from the public sector will be made simple for Hertfordshire-based firms with the launch of the Supply Hertfordshire Portal.
The online tool, available at www.supplyhertfordshire.g2b.info/hpf/ will advertise all tenders from Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the wider public sector in one place and send email alerts to providers regarding opportunities which may suit them. Applications and tenders can then be posted online, cutting costs for the providers and the county council.
It will be launched at a conference called 'Hertfordshire Open for Business' at the Fielder Centre in Hatfield on September 17, which begins with a briefing from Mark Prisk MP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills.
David Lloyd, Executive Member for Resources and Economic Wellbeing, said: “One of the crucial things we can do to help Hertfordshire businesses is to ensure that where possible we use local companies.
"The public sector organisations in the Supply Hertfordshire partnership spend over £1bn each year on a wide range of services and they are keen to find new suppliers, so this is the perfect opportunity for Hertfordshire-based businesses to find out how they can work with the public sector."
Delegates will have the chance to hear speakers from Hertfordshire County Council, Groupama Healthcare and Veolia, visit stands and attend workshops on how to use the portal and how to win contracts.
A grant from the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEP) has funded the ‘Supply Hertfordshire’ portal and some training for providers.
