Council provides funding for business start up project “My Incubator”...

(12th March 2012)

Broxbourne Council has allocated Local Strategic Partnership and some of its own funding for a business start up or “incubator” facility, run by enterprise agency Wenta. East Herts Council, Hertford Regional College and the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) are also providing support. The chosen project provides support for new businesses in Broxbourne and East Herts. It is part of a network of “My Incubator” facilities across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

The service will be based in an unused building at the Hertford Regional College campus in Ware transformed into “incubator space” for the project, towards which the Council will provide £35,000. The building will be available for use as a base by new businesses; there will be on-site advice and support. Outreach support for businesses in Broxbourne Borough will be available, for which the Council will contribute funding of £10,000 per year.

The “My Incubator” project offers free* training programmes, specialist workshops, surgeries and business mentors to local entrepreneurs who want to start their own business. The facility is expected to be available from April 2012.

The Council aims to form an agreement to ensure that there will be local benefit from the project. A review will be undertaken after six months.
