Broxbourne Council submits planning application to support leisure centre redevelopment.

(20th July 2012)

A planning application has been submitted by Broxbourne Council to support its planned redevelopment of Grundy Park Leisure Centre, Cheshunt.

The application is for a small extension to the main entrance and reception area including a ground floor café opening out onto the park. The plans also include refurbishment throughout the centre to provide improved facilities, incorporating a wet-side changing village, remodelled dry-side changing rooms, an enlarged gym and upgraded mechanical and electrical installations.

The proposed development is part of the Council’s aim to enhance the sport and leisure services offer to the local community of all ages and abilities in the Borough.

Preparation is underway to enable the design and build contractor to commence construction and is expected to start by March 2013. The redevelopment work is estimated to take between 12 and 18 months to complete, with the aim of carrying out the construction programme on a phased basis in order to keep as many services open to customers as possible.

A display board showing the proposals is available to view at the reception of Grundy Park Leisure, Cheshunt, Herts, EN8 9AA.

For further information on the proposed redevelopment plans, Grundy Park Leisure Centre is holding a number of ‘Meet the Manager’ sessions on the first Wednesday of every month between August 2012 and March 2013. There is no need to book. Times are available at the ‘leisure and culture’ section of the Council’s website, www.broxbourne.gov.uk. Please call 01992 623345 for further information.
