www.broxbourne.gov.uk web site development

(8th March 2004)

Broxbourne Councils web site www.broxbourne.gov.uk has been expanded to include a wider range of planning information including: more planning leaflets; advice on protected trees; conservation areas; and listed buildings, as well as a link to the Government planning portal which provides additional help when filling out forms. This is part of Broxbourne’s ‘e-government’ developments that are focussed on improving customer access to the Council by providing services electronically.

Prior to these developments Broxbourne’s web site already allowed visitors to download application forms and advice leaflets, view the entire text of the Local Plan Review and view weekly lists of planning applications and appeals received.

The developments enhance what has already been recognised as a good planning site - during October the web site was recognised as having the best content on planning services in Hertfordshire and the 9th best in the whole of the Eastern region. A national survey of local authority web sites was undertaken on behalf of Parsol, a Government funded body aimed at promoting good practice in the provision of information about town planning and other regulatory services on-line. Parsol's report can be viewed at www.parsol.gov.uk
