Celebrity Chefs at Hatfield House Country Show

(6th June 2006)

Famous international TV chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli and Antony Worrall Thompson will add demonstrations of their culinary skills to the many attractions at this year’s Hatfield House Country Show in Hertfordshire, to be held in August.

Christa Langan, Director Visitors and Events at the famous venue, has confirmed that each chef will be giving demonstrations in the event’s specially constructed cookery theatre on the showground. Antony Worrall Thompson, back for a fifth year by popular demand, will appear on Saturday 19th August, with Jean Christophe Novelli delivering his three demonstrations on Sunday 20th. Further demonstrations from other celebrity chefs and from the Estate’s own chefs will complete the show’s cookery programme.

Jean-Christophe is no stranger to Hertfordshire food enthusiasts. Widely known for creating the original cuisine at Brocket Hall’s Auberge du Lac, he recently opened his latest venture, “A Touch of Novelli” at the White Horse in Harpenden, Herts.

Antony Worrall Thompson remains a TV favourite for his mouthwatering creations, many based on traditional British ingredients. A major highlight of the 2005 Show, he promises more treats for his appearances this year.

In addition to the cookery demonstrations, visitors to the Country Show can enjoy a wide range of superb foods to taste and buy from specialist suppliers in the food hall and from the Show’s Farmer’s Market. There will also be an extensive shopping village crammed with novel and exciting items for the home and garden, together with rural craft demonstrations and stalls. Displays planned for the show’s arenas include falconry, polo, dog teams, steam engines and heavy horse driving, while competitions for traditional breeds of pigs and sheep will be held in the livestock area. Children will find plenty for their amusement, including a traditional steam-driven carousel, a children’s farm, donkey rides and face painting, while the adults can try their hands at clay pigeon shooting or longbow archery.

The Hatfield House Country Show will run for three days from Friday August 18th to Sunday August 20th, and is billed as a superb day out for the whole family. Unlimited parking is available and Hatfield train station is opposite the front gates of the estate.
