Ponies star in ‘Cinderella’ at Broxbourne

(19th December 2006)

The pantomime season is underway and the Council’s professional pantomime ‘Cinderella’ has opened at the Broxbourne Civic Hall. This year’s performances give pantomime-goers the chance to see a mother and daughter double-act, ‘Superstar’ and ‘Ministar’, Shetland ponies in action alongside professional actors Mark Speight and Lucinda Rhodes Flaherty, who play Buttons and Cinderella respectively.

‘Superstar’ (29) and ‘Ministar’ (25) are always in demand at this time of year, and have already appeared in a number of previous pantomimes. In between shows they enjoy ‘star’ treatment at Paradise Wildlife Park with their own personal zoo keeper, Yianna. They have luxury stables and a large supply of apples and carrots. ‘They are lovely, docile and really friendly,’ said Yianna who is enjoying taking care of the stars.

‘Cinderella’ is running at the Broxbourne Civic Hall until 30 December and tickets for the remaining performances are selling quickly. Residents who would like to buy tickets can get them from the Broxbourne Civic Hall, from all Council one stop shops, or by telephoning the box office on 01992 441946. Alternatively residents can book online at www.broxbourne.gov.uk from the ‘what’s on’ section
