Hatfield Business Park Hatfield is a modern town, situated either side of the A1(M) motorway and just a few miles north of the M25 motorway.

Hatfield today is a modern town, but still retains a village feel within Old Hatfield. Old Hatfield is also the location for the magnificent Hatfield House, built by Robert Cecil in 1611. The house is open to the public and contains a fine collection of furniture, tapestries and paintings.

Hatfield started as an old coaching town dating back to Saxon times. The town expanded following the railway's arrival in 1850 and in the 1930s, the growth was linked to the development of the aviation industry. Famous aircraft such as the Mosquito, the Comet and Trident were built here.

The University of Hertfordshire has its main campus at Hatfield. It has smaller campuses in Hertford, St Albans and Watford.

The best shopping in Hatfield can be found at the Galleria Shopping Centre, now dedicated to outlet shopping, and also at the retail park between Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City.
