The village of Leverstock Green was established in the 17th century. The area has been settled in for thousands of years, but before the 17th century the main settlement was around an area called Westwick. Westwick Row was then the main track through Westwick.
Today Leverstock Green retains the feel of a village, even though the growth of Hemel Hempstead has effectively turned the village into a district of the town. The village green forms the centre of Leverstock Green, with Westwick Row now a road within the village, about 1/2 mile from the the village green.
Leverstock Green is situated on the eastern edge of Hemel Hempstead near to junction 8 of the M1 motorway.
