London Colney is a small town situated just south of St Albans (3 miles), with the southern edge of St Albans touching the northern edge of London Colney. The town is situated on the old coach route that ran from London to St Albans.
The River Colne runs through the town and it is around this river that the oldest buildings are situated. The Green Dragon pub is pleasantly situated near the river while The Colney Fox is a popular pub for meals. There are a number of other pubs in and around the town.
The southern edge of London Colney nestles against junction 22 of the M25. On this junction is a McDonalds take-away restaurant. Nearby is probably the largest Marks and Spencer in Hertfordshire which along with a large Sainsburys supermarket form an out-of-town shopping centre.
For education, London Colney has both nursery schools and primary schools. The nearby St Albans provides a selection of secondary schools.
Local sports clubs include London Colney Cricket Club.
