Batford is a small village at the bottom end of Harpenden. Once in a village in its own right, it is now a suburb within Harpenden.
Batford is situated around the River Lee that runs from Luton towards Wheathampstead. In the summer, the area becomes a very quaint place with plenty of swans and ducks to admire.
There are a number of pubs, including The Malta, The Gibraltar Castle, The Dolphin and the Marquis of Granby. On the Lower Luton Road is a Tesco Petrol Garage, local conveneince stores and other shops.
Many years ago there was a train route which ran from Hemel Hempstead through Redbourn and on to Batford, known as the "Nickey line". This railway is now a pleasant footpath and cycle track.
Batford has an industrial estate on Coldharbour Lane that is home to a number of companies.
