Preston is a small, attractive village surrounded by countryside, about 3 miles south of Hitchin. Properties are keenly sought-after and leads to higher than average house prices.
A village green marks the centre of Preston, with one of its 4 sides occupied by the excellent village pub, The Red Lion. The pub has won numerous awards from organisations such as CAMRA, for serving a range of real ales.
The village recreation ground is situated on the edge of the village and it is hear that you can hear shouts of "Owzat" on summer afternoons as Preston Cricket Club take on local opposition.
For education, the village has a primary school, Preston JMI School. An independent boarding school for girls - The Princess Helena College - is situated on the edge of the village.
