Consider visiting Berkhamsted Castle, a few hundred metres away from the train station. You can view the remains of this romantic Norman motte and bailey castle, with its unique double moat. The castle is run by English Heritage and open all year round.
North of Berkhamsted lies beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, such as Berkhamsted Common and the Ashridge Estate, run by the National Trust. The world-renowned Ashridge Management College is based within Ashridge Estate.
You can visit and purchase wines from one of Hertfordshire's vineyards, Frithsden Vines, just a few miles North of Berkhamsted.
Not to be confused with Little Berkhampstead which is situated 20 miles east of Berkhamsted.
